87: I allow a 2 week window whereby there should be no disturbance and if I have all the ducks in a row, notes taken, characters developed, opening line in place, loose plot organized – I will write and finish that draft. If there is an interruption in that two weeks it may never see the light of day.
86: I heard an idea today on the radio and it automatically set me thinking about how it could become a play. That’s how it starts, for a while there is nothing and then you hear a line, an opinion, an overheard conversation, and so the simmering begins. If it’s still there a week later you know it’s got legs. If it’s still there a year later it certainly has got legs except you haven’t been able to find the time to give it the attention it deserves.
